There is hardly any person these days who has not heard about representatives of emo culture, called emo girls and emo boys, or in common emo kids. Emo is youth subculture descended from the followers of the music style of the same name. You can meet emo kids daily, though probably you do not pay attention to their particular style. With a general inclination to stand out of the crowd each person with a non-standard appearance seems like just expressing his personality. But still, you'll easily recognize emo boys and girls in case you discover their distinctive features. First of all, the term "emo" originates from the adjective "emotional", so the fundamental rule for emo kids is to express emotions. They are meant to be sensitive to what's going on around them and intolerant to unfairness. They lay particular emphasis on exalted love. That is the reason why there is a stereotype of emo representatives as whining girls and boys. Emo boys and girls have their own style in order that they are easily recognized. Their general hairstyle is a skew fringe covering one eye and short hair standing on end on the back of the head. Straight black hair is especially preferable. Emo girls usually give preference to childish hairstyle, for instance pigtails and bows. Both female and male representatives of emo culture generally get the ears pierced. Some of them also have facial piercing as well. Emo boys and girls also commonly outline eyes with black eyeliner or mascara, when at the same time the lips are made of the skin color. Regarding the clothing, emo boys and girls show preference to black color combined with pink. Black color stands for depression because of being rejected and misunderstood. Pink color underlines hopes of emo representatives for the future and their challenge to the all-round gloominess. These 2 colors are common for emo representatives, but other vivid combinations of colors are also used. Tight T-shirts, jeans and sneakers are the most popular clothes for emo kids. Emo culture is a particular trend of contemporary youth that assists them in expressing themselves and finding new friends that understand their vulnerable soul.
